LED street lighting - saving at the highest level

In addition to street lighting, we usually pass indifferently, but if we think about its task, we come to the conclusion that we can not imagine functioning in the city without street lamps. What lighting is on the streets or in the parks is not a coincidence - this is determined by European legal norms. Let's check, therefore, on what basis street lighting is chosen and why LED street luminaires have become so popular.

Street lighting - sometime and today

A few dozen / dozen years ago street lighting was presented quite differently. We were used to high lamps that cast a warm yellow light. Along with the change in the needs of city dwellers, lighting also began to change. Initially, the lamps lit only the space of the road, however, with time, attention was also paid to the needs of pedestrians and cyclists. And so street lighting began to illuminate also pavements, parks, squares, etc.

Light yellow versus white light

The yellow light in street lighting is slowly becoming obsolete, but several decades ago it was thought that it was the best light color, which improves the orientation of drivers, and also gives very good visibility in difficult weather conditions, such as fog, rain or snow.

Currently, in the lighting of streets, pavements, and parks, lighting that gives white light is used, because it combines the quality of daylight with energy efficiency. White light affects a better perception of the environment, and these appear brighter and much more natural. Tests have been carried out, which showed that the white color of light increases the sense of safety for passers-by and makes them feel comfortable. LED street lighting with white light color also affects the quality of urban monitoring recordings. It has also been proven that the white light of the lamps allows drivers to better observe roadside movement from a greater distance so that the driver can start the braking process earlier in the event of a dangerous situation.
